-----------------------------------------Wuppertal suspension railway is a suspension railway in Wuppertal Germany. Designed by Eugen Langen and opened in 1901. It runs above the river Wupper on a raised steel structure at the height of 12m (39ft). The length of the route is 13.3 km ( 8.3 miles). The journey takes 30 minutes. There are 20 stations. It hangs with wheels under the track. As the river bends so does the track. It is said that 25 million passengers use the train a year. A nickname is the Floating Train.-- The train was featured on German Postage stamps in 1976. I traveled on it twice, i found that if someone boarded rather heavily the carriage had a slight sway. If this gives you a headache ,take a asprin. It was invented in Wuppertal by Bayer in 1897.-------------------------------- The German Kaiser Wilheim 2 rode on the train, more modern trains today.
